Most of us have undergone our entire education life through rote learning. The ability to try and remember information through repetition. The majority of the world still works this way, and probably will for some time still. As learners and educators, we take this as the standard and only way of learning. Yes of course other methods are acknowledged. However when it comes down to it, at the end of the day, the safety and ease of rote learning wins out.
Recently I came across research for High Intensity Training, otherwise known as HIT on a BBC TV documentary featuring Dr Michael Mosley. The purpose of the study was to do with exercising, and how training for 3 minutes a week can get the important benefits of exercise.
Kids are amazing. They are like little sponges that soak up information really quickly. Their imaginations are very vivid. Just ask them questions about something they don’t know or you think they may not know and observe what they say.
